What is MRR Wars?
MRR Wars is a browser-based strategy game where you build a portfolio of real startups, earn passive income from their monthly recurring revenue (MRR), and compete against other players on the leaderboard. The twist: the startup data is real — pulled live from TrustMRR — so the market moves, revenue fluctuates, and every decision carries genuine weight.
Getting Started
Your portfolio score = current market value of all your startups + cash on hand + VP balance. The leaderboard ranks everyone by this combined score. Build it higher than everyone else to dominate the rankings.
Dashboard Tabs
| Tab | What it does |
|---|---|
| Assets | Your current holdings, MRR breakdown, active boosts/defenses, P&L per startup |
| Market | Browse all available startups, filter by category/MRR/growth, buy or manipulate |
| Attacks | Launch sabotage attacks, Founder Poaching, check your attack history |
| M&A | View active acquisition deals (yours and incoming), make offers on competitors |
| Leaderboard | Global ranking, your percentile, nearby players, cash/holdings breakdown |
Building Your Portfolio
How to buy startups
Go to the Market tab. Each startup card shows its current MRR, market price (default: 5× MRR), growth trend, and pump/dump buttons. Click Buy to purchase at market price — your cash decreases immediately and the startup appears in your Assets tab.
What MRR means and why it matters
MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue) is the core metric. It's real, verified revenue a startup earns each month. Higher MRR = more passive income per tick = more cash to reinvest. Target startups with strong MRR and positive growth rates for compounding returns.
Revenue tick: earn every 4 hours
Every 4 hours the game distributes revenue to all players automatically. Example:
You own FixMyLanding — $800/mo MRR
Every 4 hours: ~$4.44
Per day: ~$26.67
Per week: ~$186.67When to sell
Check the P&L column in your Assets tab. Consider selling when: MRR has declined for multiple ticks, you need cash for a better acquisition, you've just Pumped the startup and can exit at an inflated price, or you're at the 15-startup cap and want to rotate into higher MRR.
Boosting Your Startups
A Boost temporarily increases a startup's MRR multiplier by +20% for 48 hours. The startup shows a BOOST 🔥 badge while active.
Defending Your Startups
Each shield blocks one incoming attack or Founder Poach attempt. You can stack up to 3 shields per startup. Shields are consumed on use, not on a timer.
Attacks — Sabotage
Sabotage reduces a competitor's startup MRR by 25% for 24 hours. Has a 65% hit chance — attacks can miss if the target has no shields. A defense shield blocks the attack and is consumed. Attacker earns VP back on a successful hit (30% of damage value).
Found in the Attacks tab. Target opponents' highest-MRR startups to maximize damage to their income stream.
Founder Poaching
You recruit a key founder away from a competitor's startup, crippling its revenue output for 48 hours. The target shows a red POACHED badge. One active poach per startup at a time — you cannot poach your own startups.
Player A poaches FixMyLanding from Player B
Base MRR: $800/mo
For 48 hours: Player B earns only $560/mo (−30%)
Player A spends 800 VP → gets 200 VP back
Net cost: 600 VP
Player B loses: ~$53 in revenue over 48hMarket Manipulation
Market Manipulation inflates or deflates the displayed market price of any startup for 12 hours. It does not affect actual MRR, portfolio value, or revenue earnings — it's a psychological tool.
| Type | Effect | Badge |
|---|---|---|
| Pump | +50% visible price for 12h | Green PUMPED badge |
| Dump | −40% visible price for 12h | Red DUMPED badge |
Pump strategy
You own LaunchKit ($1,000/mo MRR, market price $5,000)
You Pump it → displayed price shows $7,500
Other players see the inflated number and bid higher in M&A
You sell at the pumped price before 12h expires
Net: ~$2,500 extra in sale price − 600 VP costDump strategy
Competitor is about to buy DataSync ($2,000/mo MRR, price $10,000)
You Dump it → displayed price shows $6,000
The startup looks damaged or undervalued
Competitor hesitates — you swoop in and grab it cheaplyAction Cooldowns & Limits

|---|---|
| Accept | Startup transfers to you; defender receives your cash |
| Counter | Defender proposes a higher price; you then accept or reject |
| Reject | Bid cancelled; your cash refunded immediately |

| Deal state at expiry | Outcome |
|---|---|
| Pending (no response) | Attacker wins — forced transfer |
| Countered (no response) | Both refunded — defender keeps startup |

Pro Tips
For new players
- Claim your daily login bonus. Free players earn 25–500 VP per day just for logging in. Streaks reset after 1 missed day, so log in daily!
- Claim first attack bonus each day. Your first attack of the calendar day grants +50 VP bonus, so attack at least once per day.
- Buy 5–8 startups early. Diversification gives you a +15% revenue bonus if you hold startups across 5+ categories.
- Climb the leaderboard. Top 50 players earn passive VP every 4 hours (10 VP/tick for rank 26–50). Building wealth and ranking up pays off.
- Shield your best startup early. A single 300 VP shield can save you hundreds in lost revenue when rivals start attacking.
- Watch the revenue tick timer. Apply Boosts right before a tick fires so elevated MRR pays out immediately.
- Consider Pro for VP advantage. Pro players earn 50 VP every 4 hours (9,000/month) to fuel attacks and defenses. Worth $9.99/month if you're competitive.
Advanced strategies
Founder Poach (600 VP net) + Market Dump (600 VP) a competitor's startup, then make a below-market M&A bid. The POACHED badge and deflated price make the startup look damaged — a desperate defender may accept a lowball offer.
Before selling a startup you no longer want, Pump it (600 VP) to inflate its visible price by 50%. Other players will bid higher in M&A offers. Time your sale to close before the 12-hour window expires.
In Weeks 6–7, stack 3 shields on your top 2–3 startups (2,700 VP total). Breaking through one startup costs an attacker 1,200 VP — usually not worth their while. Your portfolio sails through Consolidation untouched while rivals burn VP fighting each other.
